The Suwon Area Redevelopment and Reconstruction Joint Council held its inauguration ceremony at the Hwaseong Museum in Suwon on the 19th, announcing on the 22nd that it has begun full-scale activities as the largest joint council in the country.
The joint council will support verifying funding sources, reviewing whether maintenance project standards are met, providing guidelines to activate resident participation, and offering customized consulting through collaboration with specialized companies.
Additionally, to promote coexistence with residents, it will jointly establish a "Suwon-type Maintenance Project Platform" with Suwon City. For this purpose, the public council plans to propose agendas derived from resident participation to Suwon City and collaborate with the city to create a leading maintenance project platform tailored to themes such as public contributions, regional development, renovation of aging residential areas, and prevention of indiscriminate development.
Currently, the Suwon area includes eight redevelopment target zones (Wuman 1-dong, Seryu·Maegyo, Jowon-dong, Yeonghwa-dong, Songjuk-dong, Woncheon-dong) and thirteen reconstruction target zones (Jowon Byeoksan, Dongsin 1st, Dongsin 2nd, Dongsin 3rd, Woncheon Jugong, Wuman Punglim, Woncheon Samsung 1st, Maetan Hanguk 2nd, Seryu Miyeong, Jeongja Green Mansion, Maetan Imkwang, Gwonsun Samcheonri 1st, Gwonsun Seongji).
Lee Chang-hoon, chairman of the Redevelopment and Reconstruction Joint Council, stated, "We plan to share the current status and issues of each scheduled area and jointly respond to institutional improvements and agency consultations. We will strive to improve Suwon City's residential environment, supply new housing, and secure competitiveness as a planned city."
Lee Jung-jae, chairman of the Reconstruction Council, expressed strong determination, saying, "We will prepare various incentive plans and public contribution measures to secure the feasibility of reconstruction projects. We will also promote transparent and swift renovation projects for aging residential areas."
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Kim Seung-won, member of the National Assembly from the Democratic Party (Suwon Gap), Kim Ki-jung, chairman of the Suwon Special City Council, Lee Chang-sung, chairman of the People Power Party Jang-an District Committee, and Professor Lee Sang-hoon, chairman of the Urban Subcommittee of the New Suwon Planning Group.
