Shinan Mudflat, Hosting the National Mudflat World Natural Heritage Conservation Headquarters
Establishment of Integrated Management Institution for 'Korea's Tidal Flats' in Shinan Tidal Flats, the Center of Tidal Flat Heritage
[Sinan=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Jae-kyung] Sinan-gun, Jeollanam-do, will host the National Tidal Flat World Natural Heritage Conservation Headquarters for the 'Korean Tidal Flats,' the country's second World Natural Heritage site.
Last August, the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries conducted a 'Call for Sites for the Establishment of the Tidal Flat World Natural Heritage Conservation Headquarters' to select the optimal location for the headquarters. The process included document evaluation, presentation evaluation, and on-site evaluation.
Through this competition, Sinan-gun received excellent evaluations in understanding the establishment of the 'Tidal Flat World Natural Heritage Conservation Headquarters' and the tidal flat management system, and was finally selected as the site for the headquarters. The project is scheduled to begin with detailed design in 2023.
With the selection of Sinan-gun as the site for the conservation headquarters, it will become the first national institution established in Sinan-gun and serve as a prime example of balanced regional development.
Additionally, the establishment and operation of the facilities related to the conservation headquarters are expected to generate an economic ripple effect, including 136.6 billion KRW in production inducement, 70 billion KRW in added value, and employment for over 2,500 people.
