Five Lawyers Who Defamed 'Rotok' Colleagues on Online Community Referred to Prosecution

According to the police on the 22nd, the Cyber Crime Investigation Unit of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency sent five lawyers who used the lawyer community 'Loiners' to the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office on the 17th on charges of defamation and insult under the Information and Communications Network Act. Earlier, lawyers who joined Lotoc and Lotoc operator Law&Company filed a complaint with the police in September last year, claiming that unidentified lawyers posted slanderous comments about Lotoc subscribers on Loiners and shared posts containing personal information such as photos and contact details.

The police seized the Loiners server in December last year and June this year, identified the identities of about 10 users, and referred five of them to the prosecution. The complainants argued that the investigation should be expanded not only to the authors but also to the administrators who tolerated the posts.
