On the 4th (local time), according to the Italian daily 'Corriere della Sera' and others, the police are investigating the father of the deceased 2-year-old baby, Nicolo Feltrin, Diego (43), on charges of negligent homicide.
According to reports, Diego, a lumberjack, brought the baby to the hospital emergency room on the evening of July 28, holding the child in his arms.
The baby, whose heartbeat was already weak, was declared dead that night. Diego told the police that he saw the baby putting something in his mouth at a nearby park, made him spit it out, but after falling asleep, the baby did not wake up.
After hearing Diego’s statement, the police deployed a toxicology team and thoroughly searched the park but found no suspicious substances.
The autopsy revealed a shocking fact. Feltrin’s cause of death was determined to be a large amount of hashish, a cannabis product. The baby’s hair test showed traces of cocaine and heroin. The autopsy report even suggested that the baby had ingested cocaine and heroin over the past few months.
The police searched the family home and found hashish, cocaine, and heroin, which were detected in the baby’s body, scattered throughout the house. Hashish was detected in a cup on the table next to the baby’s bed.
The police believe the baby ingested the drugs used by the parents and have charged the father, Diego, with negligent homicide. Diego appeared for the police investigation with his head shaved, seemingly anticipating the drug tests and attempting to destroy evidence.
