Mokpo City Supports Hosting the Shinan-gun Tidal Flat World Natural Heritage Conservation Headquarters

[Mokpo=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jeong Hyeong-seok] Mokpo City in Jeollanam-do announced that it will support the bid to host the Getbol World Natural Heritage Conservation Headquarters in Sinan County.
The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries announced the "Plan for Selecting the Site for the Getbol World Natural Heritage Conservation Headquarters" and disclosed the public contest procedures to establish a headquarters responsible for the integrated overall coordination of the "Korean Getbol" (Seocheon, Gochang, Sinan, Boseong-Suncheon Getbol), which was registered as a World Natural Heritage site last August.
The city holds 85.7% of the total area of the World Heritage sites nationwide, the largest in the country, and has actively promoted the necessity of establishing the headquarters in Sinan, which has independently contributed to the registration of the Getbol World Natural Heritage since 2003, aiming to create a broad civic support atmosphere.
While the signature campaign supporting the hosting of the Getbol World Natural Heritage Conservation Headquarters is underway on the "Online (Mobile) Jeollanam-do Getbol World Natural Heritage Conservation Headquarters Hosting Support Website," the city plans to conduct an on- and offline signature campaign targeting city employees and visiting civil petitioners until the 29th.

A city official said, "We support the establishment of the Getbol World Natural Heritage Conservation Headquarters in Sinan and hope that the signature campaign will help the hosting effort even a little," adding, "We will continue to maintain an organic relationship with Sinan County to promote joint development in the southwestern region and foster an integrated atmosphere on the Muan Peninsula, and plan to discover collaborative projects without regard to city-county boundaries."
