[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heeyoon] Park Su-geun's 'People on the Street' and Yayoi Kusama's 'Green Pumpkin' will be featured in an auction.
Seoul Auction announced on the 14th that it will hold an auction worth 9 billion KRW with 79 pieces, including the two works, in Busan on the 27th.
This auction will feature 74 works by domestic and international artists, including Park Su-geun, Park Seo-bo, Kim Chang-yeol, Yayoi Kusama, Yoshitomo Nara, Jordi Cuixart, Javier Calleja, and Matias Sanchez.
Park Su-geun's 'People on the Street' depicts seven figures, including children and women wearing jeogori, arranged on the upper and lower parts of a single canvas. The work richly portrays a father and child holding hands and hurrying along, men sitting together chatting, and a woman waiting for guests with a woven basket in front of her.
Yayoi Kusama's green 'Pumpkin' features a pumpkin painted in green, symbolizing growth and vitality, set against an infinitely extending net-like background. It is similar to the red 'Pumpkin' that was sold for 2.2 billion KRW at a Seoul Auction in August, attracting collectors' attention.
Additionally, works by Hungarian artist Szabolcs Boz?, young Chicago-based painter Robert Nava, rising star Jordi Cuixart, and Spanish artist Javier Calleja, who are gaining attention in the global auction market, will also be introduced.
Untitled works by Kim Whanki, pencil technique pieces from the 1970s by Park Seo-bo, and large-scale works by Kim Jong-hak will also be exhibited.
