November 11th Yeongyang Chili Pepper Research Institute Variety Evaluation Meeting Held
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Gwiyeol] On the 11th, the Gyeongbuk Provincial Agricultural Research and Extension Services held the '15th Chili Pepper Variety Evaluation Meeting' at the Yeongyang Chili Pepper Research Institute, attended by over 300 people including farmers, breeding companies, and chili pepper research and guidance officials.
The chili pepper variety evaluation meeting, held every August, is organized by the Yeongyang Chili Pepper Research Institute and the Yeongyang-gun Agricultural Technology Center. It provides information on yield, pest and disease resistance, physiological disorders, and quality of chili pepper varieties, allowing participants to directly observe and select varieties based on growth and characteristics on site.
On this day, the Yeongyang-gun Agricultural Technology Center conducted education on 'This Year’s Chili Pepper Farming Conditions and Variety Characteristics.'
Following this, the Yeongyang Chili Pepper Research Institute enabled on-site verification of characteristics for 7 test-cultivated varieties from domestic seed companies and 98 exhibited varieties.
Participants were able to visually confirm various varieties, including 27 varieties with combined resistance to TSWV (Tomato Spotted Wilt Virus) and anthracnose.
