Gangwon Energy Secures First Order for Secondary Battery Electrode Process Mixing Equipment
Expanding Portfolio from Secondary Battery Cathode Material Processes to Lithium Materials and Electrode Processes
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyungsoo Park] Gangwon Energy has succeeded in securing its first order for electrode process mixing equipment.
Gangwon Energy announced on the 12th that it had signed a supply contract worth 800 million KRW with Mediatech for secondary battery electrode process mixing equipment.
The electrode process, which forms the cathode and anode plates of secondary batteries, accounts for the largest portion (30%) of the secondary battery process. The equipment supplied by Gangwon Energy is specialized for the first stage of the electrode process, the mixing process. It provides an integrated supply from material input to mixing and transfer. This equipment will be installed in the pilot line of the electrode process for a European battery company supplied by Mediatech. The mixing process is where active materials, conductive agents, binders, and solvents?the basics of battery materials?are accurately input and mixed to create a slurry with uniform distribution.
Gangwon Energy expects to supply electrode process mixing equipment to full-scale mass production facilities based on the pilot process line order supplied to the European battery company.
A company official said, "We are currently negotiating to supply pilot mixing equipment to battery companies in the second half of this year."
He added, "With the support of a favorable market environment, Gangwon Energy has expanded its business portfolio to include core equipment for secondary battery cathode materials and the electrode process mixing field. We expect to continue our winning streak in orders in the battery manufacturing sector."

Mediatech secured a large order worth 25 billion KRW from a U.S. solid-state battery company, the first among domestic battery equipment companies. Including the mixing equipment supplied by Gangwon Energy, they plan to sequentially supply battery electrode equipment (cathode and anode plate manufacturing) and assembly equipment (battery finished product manufacturing).
