President-elect Yoon to Announce Personally at 3:30 PM
[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Ju-yeon] President-elect Yoon Seok-yeol is scheduled to nominate former Prime Minister Han Duck-soo as the first Prime Minister candidate of the new government at 3:30 p.m. on the 3rd.
On this day, a key aide to President-elect Yoon told reporters this. Former Prime Minister Han is also expected to attend the event and participate in a Q&A session.
It is known that President-elect Yoon met with former Prime Minister Han the previous evening to discuss national issues. The aide explained, "(The two) discussed the overall cabinet formation for more than three hours and had an in-depth conversation about the direction of national governance."
It is reported that the two reached a consensus on strengthening the personnel authority of ministers during this meeting. When former Prime Minister Han told President-elect Yoon, "If ministerial nominees are allowed to recommend vice ministers, the atmosphere in the public service will greatly improve. If the personnel authority is given by the appointing authority to the responsible minister, teamwork will be much better formed and revitalized," President-elect Yoon reportedly agreed with this view.
Meanwhile, on the same day, before the Prime Minister nomination press conference, President-elect Yoon attended the 'Jeju 4.3 Victims Memorial Ceremony' held at the Jeju 4.3 Peace Park, becoming the first president or president-elect from a conservative party to do so.
