STX Engine Begins Development of Hybrid Engine System in Partnership with Germany
[Asia Economy Yang Nak-gyu, Military Specialist Reporter] STX Engine, a diesel engine specialist manufacturer, is partnering with the German mechatronics solutions company 'VINCORION' to develop a hybrid engine system.
According to STX Engine on the 23rd, once the hybrid engine system is developed, it will remove the starter and generator from engines currently installed in existing land combat equipment and integrate them into one unit. By installing this unit between the transmission, it is expected to improve fuel efficiency, secure additional power, and enhance instantaneous acceleration performance.
Additionally, once the hybrid engine system is established, equipment capable of collecting real-time data from the engine will be added to develop a system that informs users of the engine's real-time status and the optimal maintenance timing.
