[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul 50 Plus Foundation announced on the 23rd that it will provide opportunities for the 50+ generation wishing to return to rural areas to actually stay in the countryside and experience work activities.
‘50+ Rural Working Holiday in Jeonbuk’ is a regional stay-type internship program conducted in cooperation with Muju-gun, Buan-gun, and Imsil-gun in Jeollabuk-do. It offers the 50+ generation in Seoul who are interested in rural living the chance to work at institutions and organizations located in Jeonbuk, helping them to explore work and activities while actually staying in rural areas.
All applicants will undergo two days of training, followed by a matching day for placement and interviews. The 21 selected participants will stay in Muju, Imsil, and Buan for three months (June to August) to participate in the internship program. Participants will work 57 hours per month and must stay in the respective regions for at least 12 days per month.
Recruitment of participants begins on the 23rd through the 50+ portal. The program targets Seoul citizens aged 45 to 64 who are interested in rural living and can work and stay within Jeollabuk-do.
Based on this ‘50+ Rural Working Holiday in Jeonbuk’ project, the foundation plans to provide career transition opportunities to the Seoul 50+ generation interested in returning to rural areas and expand projects promoting urban-rural coexistence.
