Sijibio "LED Beauty Device 'EasyL Mask' Shows UV Skin Damage Recovery Effect"
Collaboration with Professor Park Gui-young's Research Team at Chung-Ang University
Confirmed Anti-Aging and Anti-Inflammatory Effects
Inhibition of Reactive Oxygen Species Generation and Prevention of Collagen Loss
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-joo] Siji Bio recently announced on the 18th that it has confirmed the anti-aging and anti-inflammatory effects on skin damage of its LED beauty device, the EasyL Mask.
Siji Bio, together with Professor Park Gwi-young's research team from the Department of Dermatology at Chung-Ang University Hospital, induced photoaging in skin fibroblasts using actual UVB (Ultraviolet-B) exposure and observed cellular-level changes when LED was applied.
The study was conducted by irradiating cultured human skin fibroblasts with UVB to induce photoaging, then applying the main light source of the EasyL Mask, a 590 nm wavelength yellow LED, at high power (maximum over 200J/cm²), and comparing the expression levels of aging and inflammatory factors within the cells.
The results showed that the LED suppressed the generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS), one of the main causes of aging. UVB exposure significantly increased ROS expression in cells, but cells treated with LED showed a significant decrease in ROS expression. It was also found to prevent collagen loss. The research team explained, “When exposed to ultraviolet rays, collagen in the skin breaks down, leading to reduced elasticity and aging, but the LED inhibited collagen degradation, preventing collagen loss,” adding, “Regeneration of damaged collagen also increased by about three times.”
Additionally, the LED reduced the expression of inflammation-related factors caused by ultraviolet exposure, thereby suppressing inflammation within the cells. Although the survival rate of normal skin cells decreases as higher power energy is used, the EasyL Mask maintained over 90% cell viability even when applying high-power LED energy.
Yu Hyun-seung, CEO of Siji Bio, stated, “This study is meaningful in that it confirmed the mechanism behind the anti-aging effects of LED, which had only been vaguely understood before,” and explained, “The EasyL Mask is a device applying the highest power LED among domestic LED mask products, and based on the anti-aging and anti-inflammatory effects confirmed in this study, it is a product that enables aesthetic clinic-level skin care at home.”
