"War Is Not the Answer" Korean Human Rights Cities Association Holds Press Conference Supporting Ukraine
On the 17th, the Korean Human Rights Cities Council held a press conference at Jeongdong Jeil Church next to the Russian Embassy in Korea, announcing a statement condemning Russia's invasion of Ukraine and expressing support for Ukraine. Attending the press conference were Lee Dong-jin, Mayor of Dobong-gu and Chairperson of the Human Rights Cities Council, Moon Seok-jin, Mayor of Seodaemun-gu, and Kim Jeong-sik, Mayor of Michuhol-gu, Incheon, who condemned Russia's anti-human rights actions and conveyed support and encouragement to Ukraine. Andrey Litvinov, a teacher at Gwangju Ji-hye Alternative School originally from Ukraine, and Valeria, a language exchange student at Duksung Women's University, also participated. They said, "We face the painful reality of our homeland suffering from war every day, and it is a great strength that Koreans show interest and stand with us." The Korean Human Rights Cities Council was established in 2017 for local governments nationwide to exchange and cooperate on human rights protection policies. Here are some photos from the event.
