You Can Also Obtain a Criminal Record Certificate Using Naver or Shinhan Bank Certificates
[Asia Economy Reporter Seongpil Cho] From this month, it has become possible to issue a Criminal Record Certificate using Naver and Shinhan Bank certificates.
The National Police Agency announced on the 5th that it has added these simple authentication methods to the Criminal Record Certificate issuance system (crims.police.go.kr) for the convenience of the public. With the addition of Naver and Shinhan Bank this month, the number of simple authentication services available on the Criminal Record Certificate issuance system has expanded from the existing five companies to seven. The previous five companies included Kakao, KB Kookmin Bank, Samsung Pass, and Payco.
Until 2014, the Criminal Record Certificate had to be issued by visiting the police station in person. To resolve this inconvenience, the police developed and have been operating the Criminal Record Certificate issuance system since the following year. As a result, out of the total 2,906,143 certificates issued last year, 799,992 (27.5%) were issued through this system.

Since July last year, the police have been operating five simple authentication services including Kakao and KB Kookmin Bank, in addition to general identity verification methods such as joint certificates, i-PIN, and mobile phone verification. With the recent addition of Naver and Shinhan Bank, the police expect budget savings such as reduced mobile phone authentication fees. The police plan to continuously expand simple authentication by adding three more types next year in collaboration with the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
