Yoon Seok-yeol's Approval Rating Rises by 5.5%p, Lee Jae-myung's Approval Rating Falls by 1.3%p
[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] Yoon Seok-yeol, the presidential candidate of the People Power Party, is experiencing a sharp rise in approval ratings. In a poll on support for the next presidential candidates, Yoon surpassed Lee Jae-myung, the presidential candidate of the Democratic Party of Korea, by a margin outside the margin of error.
According to a poll conducted by Realmeter on behalf of YTN Broadcasting from the 24th to 25th, surveying 1,018 adults aged 18 and over nationwide (automated response method, with a sampling error of ±3.1 percentage points at a 95% confidence level), Yoon's approval rating rose by 5.5 percentage points from the previous survey (conducted on the 10th-11th) to 44.7%. Meanwhile, Lee's approval rating fell by 1.3 percentage points to 35.6%. Ahn Cheol-soo, the People Power Party presidential candidate, dropped 2.4 percentage points to 9.8%, Sim Sang-jung, the Justice Party presidential candidate, declined by 0.9 percentage points to 3.9%, and Kim Dong-yeon, the leader of Saerounmulgyeol, decreased by 0.8 percentage points to 0.3%.
Yoon led Lee in approval ratings across all age groups except for those in their 40s and 50s. Among people in their 20s, Yoon had 53.0% support compared to Lee's 20.0%; in their 30s, Yoon had 39.9% while Lee had 34.4%; and among those aged 60 and above, Yoon had 55.2% versus Lee's 28.4%. In the 40s age group, Lee led with 53.2% to Yoon's 27.8%, and in the 50s, both Lee and Yoon were tied at 41.3% each.
Regionally, Yoon was dominant in all areas except Honam and Jeju.
In a poll asking about the likelihood of winning the election, Yoon recorded 48.4%, Lee 42.4%, Ahn 3.9%, Sim 1.2%, and Kim 0.3%.
