Binggrae Melona, an Ice Cream Industry Legend Sold in 16 Countries Worldwide
[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Binggrae's Melona, which became a legend in the ice cream industry by achieving sales of 21 billion KRW upon its launch in 1992, is actively expanding its overseas exports and establishing itself as a Hallyu ice cream. Melona, sold in 16 countries worldwide, captivates global tastes by offering flavors tailored to each country's preferred fruits such as strawberry, banana, mango, and coconut.
Melona is especially popular in the North American region. It currently ranks first in sales among ice cream bar varieties at 7-Eleven and Costco in Hawaii. Based on this local market popularity, Binggrae Melona is the first domestic ice cream brand to produce and sell locally in the United States. Since July 2017, Binggrae has been producing and selling Melona through an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) agreement with Lucern Foods, located in Bellevue, Washington, on the U.S. West Coast.
