James Kim Appointed as the 5th Artistic Director of Suwon City Choir
[Asia Economy Reporter Donghyun Choi] Suwon City Choir announced on the 17th that it has appointed conductor James Kim as its 5th artistic director.
New artistic director James Kim earned his bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Southern California and obtained his doctorate from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. He was later invited by world-renowned conductor Helmuth Rilling to study with him for three years, focusing on conducting and German music. He specialized in the study of Bach's music.
Currently, he serves as the head professor of choral conducting at Colorado State University, dedicating himself to training the next generation. He founded the Colorado Bach Ensemble, a professional choir and orchestra specializing in the performance of Bach's music, and continues to lead the ensemble as its artistic director. He has actively performed works such as Bach's Mass in B minor, St. Matthew Passion, and St. John Passion.
James Kim plans to hold his inaugural concert on March 18 at the Suwon SK Artrium Grand Theater.
