Hite Jinro Beverage Launches 500mL Single Bottle of Label-Free Seoksu
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-sun] Hite Jinro Beverage announced on the 5th that it recently launched the ‘No-Label Seoksu’ 500mL single bottle product as part of expanding the eco-friendly packaging method for its drinking water brand Seoksu.
Following the launch of the ‘No-Label Seoksu’ 2L bundle product in April last year, the company introduced the ‘No-Label Seoksu’ 500mL bundle product in October. The no-label bundle products do not attach labels to individual containers; instead, essential information such as the product name and source of water is printed on the surface of the single bottle and the bundle packaging.
No-label products have the advantage of reducing plastic usage by not using single bottle labels and eliminating the hassle of separating labels for disposal. However, it has been difficult to display barcodes on no-label single bottles, limiting single bottle sales. The company applied a small label band including a barcode around the neck of the single bottle to enable single bottle sales and introduced the ‘No-Label Seoksu’ single bottle product.

Earlier, Hite Jinro Beverage reduced the weight of the ‘Seoksu’ PET bottles in accordance with the ‘Water Bottle Lightweight Practice Agreement’ signed with the Ministry of Environment in 2013, cutting plastic usage by 570 tons annually and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by about 30% compared to before. The company produces about 550 million water PET bottles annually (based on 500mL), and plans to convert more than 50% of its water PET production, including all bundle sales products, to no-label products in the future.
