[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] Jeong Joon-seon (30), the eldest son of HDC Group Chairman Jeong Mong-gyu, has been appointed as a professor at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST).
According to business circles and KAIST on the 23rd, Jeong Joon-seon, the chairman's eldest son, was appointed as an assistant professor in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at KAIST last month. His research areas include machine learning, speech signal processing, and computer vision.
Professor Jeong is the eldest of Chairman Jeong's three sons. He studied at Eton School in the UK and earned his master's and doctoral degrees from Oxford University, specializing in the field of artificial intelligence (AI). During his doctoral studies at Oxford, he collaborated with DeepMind, a Google subsidiary, to develop AI technologies. In 2018, he served as a military service exemption personnel at Naver's in-house independent company (CIC) 'Search & Clova,' which develops AI-based search technologies.
