Gangnam-gu Opens 'Well-Aging Center,' the First Senior Health Institution Established by a Local Government
Operation of Well-Aging Specialized Programs Including AR·VR Physical Function Assessment and Healthy Cooking Practice
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gangnam-gu (District Mayor Jeong Soon-gyun) will open the 'Well-Aging Center,' the nation's first senior specialized health promotion facility, on the 16th in Samseong-dong to support the healthy aging of the elderly.
The 'Well-Aging Center' moves away from the traditional welfare and leisure-focused elderly facilities to provide health promotion services. It offers free specialized 'Well-Aging' programs that prevent and manage age-related diseases such as sarcopenia, musculoskeletal disorders, cognitive decline, hypertension, and diabetes through various advanced medical devices.
The center spans 662㎡ and includes ▲ a physical function evaluation room applying AR and VR ▲ a cooking space to learn healthy diets ▲ a G-Track to assist correct walking posture training ▲ a sling space for musculoskeletal balance exercises ▲ and a studio for well-living and well-dying cultural programs.
The center is available to Gangnam-gu residents aged 60 and over, and registration can be done via visit or phone. Registration is also possible at local community centers.
