The Biggest Enemy of the US, Not China but This Country... 58% Voted for It

[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Sumi] A survey revealed that the majority of American voters consider North Korea to be the United States' greatest adversary.
A survey conducted from the 27th to the 30th of last month by the British current affairs magazine The Economist and data analytics company YouGov, targeting 1,500 American voters, found that 58% of respondents selected North Korea as the United States' biggest enemy.
Following North Korea, Iran was chosen by 44%, while China and Afghanistan each recorded 33%.
Notably, among white male college graduates, 82% of respondents identified North Korea as the United States' greatest adversary. By age group, hostility toward North Korea increased with age: 72% among those aged 65 and older, compared to 45% among younger voters aged 18 to 29.
When examined by income, 67% of those earning over $50,000 (approximately 60 million KRW), 66% of those earning over $100,000 (approximately 120 million KRW), and 48% of those earning less than $50,000 expressed hostility toward North Korea, indicating that higher income correlates with greater antagonism.
Regarding the question about 'progress in US-North Korea relations since President Joe Biden took office,' 43% of respondents answered that relations have 'worsened.' This was followed by 28% who said 'no change,' 15% who said 'improved,' and 15% who said 'don't know.' Among those who answered 'worsened,' 80% had supported Trump in the 2020 presidential election, while 12% had supported Biden.
Earlier, a survey released on the 1st by the Ronald Reagan Institute in the United States found that China is considered the 'greatest threat to the United States.'
In a survey conducted by the institute from October 25 to November 7 targeting 2,523 American adults, 52% of respondents identified China as the greatest threat to the United States, followed by Russia (14%) and North Korea (12%).
Meanwhile, in this survey, American voters responded that South Korea is an ally (42%) and viewed with favor (31%). Regarding China, respondents answered unfavorably (41%), as an enemy country (34%), favorably (10%), and as a friend (2%).
