[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] Yoon-gyeol (29), a former member of the famous band Jannabi, is under investigation by the police following a report that he assaulted a woman.
According to the police on the 24th, the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul received a report on the early morning of the 21st that Yoon assaulted a woman at a pub in Apgujeong-dong, Gangnam-gu.
Yoon, who attended a friend's wedding reception, reportedly approached a woman at the drinking party while intoxicated. When the woman ignored him, he allegedly struck her on the back of the head multiple times. It is understood that Yoon and the victim were strangers.
The police plan to decide whether to formally charge Yoon after thoroughly investigating the details of the incident.

Jannabi's agency, Peponi Music, posted a statement on their official social media, saying, "We heard about the incident from Yoon-gyeol himself, but the details differ from what has been reported in the news, which is perplexing." They added, "Yoon-gyeol's contract with Jannabi had already expired before his service as a social service agent, so the contract was terminated. Although he is no longer a member of Jannabi under the contract, we once again express our regret over this unfortunate matter."
