[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] Genesis unveiled its first brand complex cultural space, 'Genesis House New York,' on the 10th (local time).
Genesis House is located in the Meatpacking District, the cultural and artistic hub of Manhattan, New York, where attractions such as The High Line and Little Island, which are emerging as landmarks of New York, are situated.
This space serves as a complex brand hub including vehicle exhibitions, a restaurant, a library, a performance hall, and a terrace garden. Genesis explained that it aims to be an urban 'oasis of culture' that provides rest and artistic inspiration amid busy daily life. The space is custom-designed to showcase the Genesis brand in harmony and balance with the surrounding scenery, consisting of three floors including one basement level, covering approximately 4,340 square meters.
The first floor of 'Genesis House' is an exhibition space where visitors can experience a variety of vehicles ranging from the entire Genesis lineup to concept cars embodying the brand's future vision. It is designed using a tessellation method, where mirror displays arranged in matching shapes create reflective effects that make the exhibited vehicles stand out even more.
Additionally, vehicles visible from outside are covered with metal curtains in the Genesis brand color, and sculptures emphasizing the parabolic line and two-line silhouette?design elements of Genesis vehicles?are installed. Genesis plans to assign dedicated curators to provide services in multiple languages including English, Spanish, French, Chinese, and Korean.
The second floor of 'Genesis House' is themed around 'Enjoying Korean Daily Life' and offers various cultural experience spaces where visitors can feel the unique beauty and sentiment of Korea, including a tea pavilion, a library, the Genesis House restaurant, and a terrace garden.
The tea pavilion, inspired by Chaekgado (a traditional Korean painting of bookshelves) and embodying the philosophy of scholars, is arranged as a neat floor-seating space serving as both a study surrounded by bookshelves and a tea room. Next to the tea pavilion, the library houses carefully selected domestic and international books on art, design, food, and travel through collaboration with luxury art book publisher Assouline and the Korean non-profit cultural organization Areumjigi. Genesis original books will also be introduced in the future.
The Genesis House restaurant, created in collaboration with Onjium, a Seoul Michelin-starred restaurant and traditional culture research institute, spans approximately 890 square meters and offers customers an elegant and creative gourmet experience. It also features cocktails based on traditional Korean liquors such as Korean traditional wine, Makgeolli, Cheongju, and Soju.
The 882-square-meter outdoor terrace garden on the second floor reflects the concept of a low wall courtyard typical of Hanok (traditional Korean houses) and the alley beyond the wall. It is designed as a comfortable space where visitors can enjoy tea or coffee while overlooking Hudson Yards, the Hudson River, and The High Line.
The basement level houses the Cellar Stage, a multipurpose space for various events such as new car launches. The Cellar Stage is equipped with a three-sided LED stage, lighting, and sound systems, enabling diverse events. Genesis is also preparing events in collaboration with artists and local communities utilizing this space.
