Gwangju Seobu Fire Station, Fire Safety Education for Creating Safe Apartment Complexes
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Gwangju Western Fire Station (Chief Yang Young-gyu) conducted fire safety training on the 4th to cultivate fire safety leaders for employees of the management office of Dongcheon Village Complex 1, an LH public rental apartment within the jurisdiction of the Western Fire Station.
The training was conducted using the multi-unit housing fire safety manual to enable the management entities of multi-unit housing to perform their roles. It included practical exercises on the use of fire extinguishers and fire hydrants, promotion of lightweight partition management, and was tailored to the environment and characteristics of multi-unit housing.
Meanwhile, the ‘Making The Safe Multi-Unit Housing’ fire safety training will be held monthly from November this year to October next year. It aims to improve the rapid initial response capabilities of multi-unit housing stakeholders such as management office employees, general residents, and senior centers through education and promotion.
Jo Ho-ik, Head of the 119 Disaster Response Division, stated, “We will actively conduct customized fire safety training on initial response and evacuation guidelines suited to the structural characteristics of multi-unit housing, where fires easily spread to neighboring units and cause extensive damage, so that people can respond quickly in emergencies.”
