Jane Motors Acquires 6 Autonomous Driving Patents During Development of Post Office Logistics Vehicles
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Jeong-su] Jane Motors, an electric vehicle company affiliated with DIC, is drawing attention by filing and registering a large number of patents during the pilot project for autonomous postal vehicles. These technologies are core technologies for controlling autonomous vehicles and are expected to contribute to the commercialization of autonomous driving in the future.
Jane Motors announced on the 29th that it has filed and registered six patents during the development of autonomous logistics vehicles. The registered patents include △Driving prediction and safe driving system based on driver emergency situation detection in autonomous vehicles △Longitudinal response control system and method for electric autonomous vehicles △Remotely controllable brake system △Steering angle calibration system and correction method for electric vehicles (xEV) △Forced control system for electric vehicles (xEV), among others.
Park Dae-hyuk, director of Jane Motors, said, "We have been conducting research to solve 5G logistics since starting a support project with the Korea Electronics and Telecommunications Industry Association (KEA) three years ago," adding, "For autonomous driving technology for smart logistics of the Korea Post, we are promoting various research including electric vehicle platforms, multipurpose electric vehicles, motors, and water pumps."
Additionally, Jane Motors is exhibiting a postal delivery vehicle equipped with autonomous driving functions applying the patented technologies at the COEX Convention Center in Seoul until today. After exhibiting at Daegu EXCO last week, the vehicle has been on display for three days since the 27th.
This vehicle was developed as Jane Motors formed a consortium with SML (autonomous driving algorithm development), a startup venture within Seoul National University led by Professor Lee Kyung-soo, the Korea Automotive Technology Institute (autonomous driving section map construction), and Metabuild (control software construction and development), after being selected as a pilot operator for the Korea Post's C-ITS pilot project.
