KT "Communication Disruption Not Due to DDoS Attack... Caused by Routing Error" (Update)
[Asia Economy Reporter Minyoung Cha] It has been officially confirmed that the cause of KT's nationwide wired and wireless communication access outage was a routing (network path configuration) error.
KT stated at around 2:30 PM on the 25th, "First of all, we apologize to the public for the inconvenience caused by the communication outage," adding, "Initially, we suspected a DDoS attack due to traffic overload, but after thorough investigation, we identified a routing error as the cause."
They continued, "We will investigate more specific details together with the government and provide additional explanations as soon as we identify them."
The Network Safety Planning Division of the Ministry of Science and ICT is currently investigating the detailed circumstances of KT's communication access outage.
