Additionally, flooding occurred in Taiyuan City, submerging over 200 houses, causing parts of Shanxi Province to suffer heavy rain damage. The media also reported that 74 scenic spots, including the Pingyao Ancient City in Taiyuan, were closed, and cultural heritage sites were damaged by the heavy rain.
The Global Times stated that amid ongoing power shortages, 27 coal mines in Shanxi Province were closed due to the heavy rain. This has further increased concerns about coal supply. It is also reported that 99 other mines and 7 chemical plants in Shanxi Province have all been closed.
