Popular Credit Cards in Q3 This Year: "Living Expense Benefits Trending Due to Corona"
Top 10 Popular Credit Cards in Q3 by Card Gorilla
1st Place, NH Nonghyup Card 'Olbareun Flex Card'
[Asia Economy Reporter Ki Ha-young] In the third quarter of this year, 'unconditional cards' that offer rewards and discounts without monthly spending requirements, as well as cards that provide discounts on living expenses, remained popular due to the impact of COVID-19. With the expected introduction of With-Corona in the fourth quarter, attention is focused on whether cards with enhanced shopping and travel benefits will regain consumer interest.
According to Card Gorilla, the largest credit card specialist site in Korea, the 'NH Nonghyup Olbareun FLEX' card was selected as the most popular credit card in the third quarter of this year. This ranking was based on the number of views and application conversions for each credit card product on the Card Gorilla website (PC and mobile combined) from July 1 to September 24.
The 'NH Nonghyup Olbareun FLEX card' ranked 7th in the first half of this year but rose six places to claim the top spot for the first time. With an annual fee of 10,000 KRW, it offers up to 20% discounts on online streaming services such as YouTube Premium and Netflix, as well as delivery applications. It also provides close-to-life discounts on Starbucks, movies, transportation and communication, and shopping.
The 2nd place went to the 'Hyundai Card Zero Edition 2 (Discount Type)', which dropped one rank compared to the first half of the year. As a steady seller among unconditional discount cards, it offers a 0.7% billing discount at all merchants without monthly spending or limit restrictions, and a 1.5% billing discount in essential living categories.
The 3rd place was taken by 'Shinhan Card The More'. Amounts under 1,000 KRW from payments are accumulated as investment points, and investment points are doubled at closely related living merchants such as delivery apps, digital content, communication, department stores, overseas, and installment payments. It has captured the hearts of the MZ generation (Millennials + Generation Z) amid the recent small investment boom.
The 4th place was claimed by the essential card for single-person households, 'Shinhan Card Mr. Life'. It offers various living discounts such as 10% on monthly bills (utilities), 10% at convenience stores, 10% at large marts, and 10% at laundromats, successfully entering the top 5 again following the first half of the year. The 5th place went to 'Samsung Card TapTapO', which allows users to select their desired benefit option packages.
The 6th place was taken by 'Woori Card DA@Card Uijeongseok', which combines unconditional discounts with free airport lounge access, and the 7th place by 'Shinhan Card Deep Dream', which offers 0.7% accumulation at all merchants and automatic 5x accumulation in the most frequently used categories. The 'KB Kookmin Tantan Dero All Shopping Titanium Card', popular for its discount benefits in shopping and living categories and high picking rate, ranked 8th. The 'Hyundai Card Z Family', a living expense card for various family types, newly entered the chart at 9th place. The 'Hana Card Any Plus', which offers 0.7% discounts at all domestic merchants and 1.7% discounts at domestic online and overseas merchants, re-entered the top 10 at 10th place.
