[Asia Economy Reporter Na Ye-eun] Hollywood actor Elliot Page (34), who underwent gender confirmation surgery from female to male, has attracted attention by appearing on the red carpet wearing a suit instead of a dress for the first time after the surgery.

On the 13th (local time), Elliot appeared at the fashion charity event '2021 Met Gala' held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, USA, wearing a black Balenciaga tuxedo. Having undergone top surgery for gender transition last December, Elliot looked noticeably more comfortable that day.

He wore a 'green carnation' on his left chest, known as a symbol of homosexuality. After it was revealed that Oscar Wilde, the British playwright who was previously suspected of being homosexual, always wore a green carnation on his chest, the 'green carnation' became a symbol of homosexuality.

Previously, Elliot gained recognition for his acting skills as a teenage single mother in the film 'Juno' (2008), earning the title of America's 'national little sister,' and later gained popularity in films such as 'Inception' (2010) and 'To Rome with Love' (2013).

Then, last December, he posted a lengthy message on his Instagram and Twitter, announcing, "I want to let you know that I am trans. The pronouns I use are 'he' or 'they,' and my name is 'Elliot,'" directly sharing his gender transition news.

Following this, the Netflix series 'The Umbrella Academy,' in which Elliot was starring, respected his decision, and the casting director also expressed support, saying, "We want to continue casting him in future films without change."
