The University Living Lab Network Forum includes participation from 28 universities nationwide, such as Dongseo University, Gyeongnam National University, Keimyung University, Daejeon University, Dongguk University, Dongmyung University, Chonnam National University, Jeonbuk National University, and Jeonju University.
This forum, known as a 'university-led innovation platform,' held its inaugural ceremony at the National Assembly Library in July 2019 and marked its 5th session this year.
This forum proceeded in the order of ▲Global Living Lab ▲University Living Lab Policy ▲Thematic Seminars and Discussions ▲Presentation and Exhibition of Best Practices.
The event was held both on-site and via online live streaming, with a minimum number of participants, including presenters, attending in person.
Dongseo University presented 'Key Operational Achievements of the Barrier-Free Living Lab' as an excellent case study of university-specific living labs.
Since 2018, Dongseo University has collaborated with the Busan Viewer Media Center to produce barrier-free cultural content and co-host a media festival for people with disabilities. This year, through the '2021 Living Lab Twin' project with Dongguk University LINC+ Project Group, they are realizing the public value of barrier-free initiatives.
Professor Lee Hyun-dong of Dongseo University, the presenter, stated, "According to data from the Busan Welfare Development Institute, 97% of registered disabled persons in Busan have no experience in cultural and artistic activities," adding, "We are planning and operating programs to create spaces where people with and without disabilities can share cultural experiences and to raise public interest so that barrier-free can become universal in our society."
Kim Hyung-woo, Director of the Regional Cooperation Center at Dongseo University LINC+ Project Group, said, "This event served as an opportunity to explore the development direction of the 'University Living Lab,' where universities and local communities coexist," and added, "Dongseo University recognizes its social responsibility and will continue to lead university and regional linkage contribution activities through collaboration with local institutions."
Dongseo University is regarded as a leading university in the field of community contribution. Since January 2018, it has served as the chair university of the 'Community Contribution Research Association,' which includes 10 universities nationwide.
