Department of Fashion Design Awarded Busan Mayor's Prize as Best Team in Local Issue Resolution Project
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Students from the Fashion Design Department at Dongseo University were awarded the Busan Mayor's Award as the top team at the performance sharing and reporting meeting of the "2021 University Class Support Project for Solving Local Community Issues," hosted by the Busan Talent Lifelong Education Promotion Institute.
Since 2018, the University Class Support Project promoted by the Busan Talent Lifelong Education Promotion Institute has been providing project funds ranging from 5 million to 10 million KRW through competitions for each class.
The project aims to broaden professors' and students' understanding of the local community and to discover ideas for solving everyday life problems through university classes.
In this University Class Support Project, about 300 students from a total of 8 classes across 6 universities in the Busan area participated to identify and address local community issues.
At the final performance reporting meeting, the representative team of the "AI-based Fashion Smart Mirror Service Design" class, conducted as a Class Selling course in the first semester of 2021 (third-year students Song Jisoo, Kim Hajin, and Kim Minsu from the Fashion Design Department), was selected as the top team.
"AI-based Fashion Smart Mirror Service Design" is an industry-academia course linked with an artificial intelligence company, aiming to support small business owners by improving and digitalizing the environment of fashion stores in the Busan area.
The students' ideas were connected with the LINC+ Project Group's C&D project, completing prototype production and installation using the class outcomes, further enhancing the project's completeness.
