Flying Drones and Launching Dreams... Dongseo University LINC+ Project Group Operates Regional Creative Convergence Education 'Dodeumbyeot Drone Classroom'
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] An educational program that spreads drone technology accumulated by universities to children and local communities has gained popularity.
Dongseo University (President Jang Je-guk) is leading drone technology education, a key field of the Fourth Industrial Revolution in the southeastern region. The university's LINC+ Project Group recently operated the ‘Dodeumbyeot Drone Classroom’ at the Haeundae Jwa 2-dong Administrative Welfare Center.
The Dodeumbyeot Drone Classroom is a program where the university gifts dreams to the ‘local community,’ with education messengers being students from Dongseo University's Convergence Department (advised by Professor Yoon Chang-won).
The students provided an engaging experience and educational package about drone principles, flight practice, and future career exploration to about 50 participants including the Haeundae Jwa 2-dong Green City Volunteer Group, parents, and welfare center officials.
The ‘Korea Drone Technology Education Council’ was launched in September 2020 and includes major universities from the southeastern, Daegu-Gyeongbuk, Chungcheong, Honam, and Gangwon regions.
Cho Dae-soo, head of Dongseo University’s LINC+ Project Group and president of the council, explained, “Dongseo University LINC+ Project Group’s drone classroom is a representative symbiotic program that shares diverse knowledge related to the Fourth Industrial Revolution with the local community and jointly cultivates talent with creative convergence capabilities between the university and the community.” He also expressed the intention to continue this collaborative program.
Dongseo University LINC+ Project Group’s drone classroom is also strengthening industry-academia cooperation networks with drone classroom participating institutions in 16 districts of Busan and the Gyeongsangnam-do region.
