Have You Enrolled or Employed? Dongui Science University Selected for 'Early Employment Contract Department Leading Specialized College' Project
Supported up to 6 billion KRW over 5 years... Operating Smart Beauty Care, Material Components, and Food Cooking Departments Next Year
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Dong-Eui Institute of Technology has been selected as a leading specialized college for the ‘Early Employment-Type Contract Department,’ where admission directly leads to employment, gaining momentum in promoting projects that link admission and employment.
Dong-Eui Institute of Technology (President Kim Young-do) announced on the 14th that it was recently selected for the ‘2021 Early Employment-Type Contract Department Leading Specialized College Development Project,’ following the Meister College pilot operation project.
The ‘Early Employment-Type Contract Department Leading Specialized College Development Project,’ promoted by the Ministry of Education and the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology, is a project supporting higher vocational education institutions to cultivate customized talent in promising new industries of the 4th Industrial Revolution era.
Selected universities receive up to approximately 6 billion KRW over five years.
From 2022, the university will establish early employment-type contract departments such as Smart Beauty Care, Smart Materials and Components, and Smart Food Cooking.
In preparation for the rapid advancement of industrial structures with the integration of advanced technologies such as AI, Big Data, and VR into manufacturing and service industries, the university plans to operate curricula reflecting industrial demand, focusing on core job competencies and creativity.
The early employment-type contract departments guarantee employment with partner companies from the admission stage, and education is conducted as a three-semester specialized associate degree program.
In the first year, students undergo intensive industry-customized classes at the university to prepare for improving job skills. In the first semester of the second year, students attend university classes once a week and receive on-site training at partner companies four days a week. Afterward, they are employed by the partner companies.
Prior to project selection, Dong-Eui Institute of Technology had already completed business agreements for recruitment linkage with mid-sized companies in the Busan area such as Pellia Hair, Hwami-Ju ITC, Segye Chemical Industry, and The Party.
Not only is employment guaranteed upon admission, but tuition fees during the university period are fully supported by the university and industry partners.
Additionally, to cultivate customized talent for partner companies, the proportion of lectures involving industry personnel participation will be increased to over 30%, along with joint curriculum development.
Through highly refined industry-customized education, the university plans to establish a win-win system among the university, companies, and students.
Recruitment of new students will be conducted in the same manner as existing university admissions and selected through a quota-exceeding screening process.
Furthermore, adult vocational training and in-service education (non-degree) will be operated on two tracks, including practical courses in Smart Electrical Internal Wiring and short-term job courses in Smart Beauty Care.
