YouTube announced on the 23rd (Korean time) that BTS's new digital single "Butter" music video recorded 108.2 million views within 24 hours of its release. This is the highest number of views in 24 hours in the history of YouTube music videos. BTS surpassed the previous record of 101.1 million views set by "Dynamite" in August last year in about 10 months. With this, BTS now holds both the first and second place for the most views on YouTube music videos within 24 hours.
The "Butter" music video also set a new record for the highest number of concurrent viewers on YouTube Premieres, exceeding 3.9 million at the time of release. This surpassed the previous record of 3 million concurrent viewers set during the first release of "Dynamite," making BTS hold both the first and second place for the most concurrent viewers on YouTube Premieres.
As of 9 a.m. on the 23rd, "Butter" ranked number one on the iTunes 'Top Song' charts in 101 countries and regions worldwide. Additionally, "Butter" broke Spotify's daily streaming record with 20.9 million streams on its release day, according to the latest chart released by the world's largest music streaming service, Spotify (as of May 21).
