Geochang-gun Provides Free Hygiene Products for Elderly Patients with Geriatric Diseases
Reducing the Economic Burden on Caregiving Households Due to Geriatric Diseases
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] The Dementia Safety Center in Geochang-gun, Gyeongnam announced on the 12th that it is providing free hygiene products (diapers) funded by the county to reduce the economic burden on elderly patients with senile diseases and to promote a healthy and comfortable old age.
The support targets elderly patients with senile diseases residing in Geochang-gun, and the diagnostic criteria include dementia (F00∼F03, G30∼G31, F31.82, F10.7), stroke (I60∼I69), and Parkinson’s disease (G20∼G26), who must be using hygiene products.
Applications can be submitted by visiting the Geochang-gun Dementia Safety Center with an ID and a prescription indicating the disease code, or by fax.
The support includes pant-type or band-type diapers, selectable according to the recipient’s preference. As of 2021, 266 people received pant-type diapers and 95 people received band-type diapers. The products can be received via delivery or by visiting the Dementia Safety Center.
Gu In-mo, the mayor of Geochang-gun, said, “I hope this will help reduce the economic burden on families supporting elderly patients with senile diseases and assist in the personal health management of the patients.”
