SGA Solutions Wins 10 Billion KRW Government Project for Zero Trust Development
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyungsoo Park] Integrated security solution company SGA Solutions announced on the 6th that it has won the project titled “Development of Zero Trust-based Access Control and Anomaly Detection Technology for Protecting Corporate Networks in the Untact Era,” organized by the Institute for Information & Communications Technology Planning and Evaluation under the Ministry of Science and ICT.
The project scale amounts to 9.75 billion KRW, including 7.5 billion KRW in government support funds and 2.25 billion KRW in matching funds from the lead and participating institutions. The research period extends until December 2024. Through this project, SGA Solutions plans to develop zero trust technology to defend against and respond to APT attacks, which have become a major issue due to the spread of remote work, and also establish a demonstration service.
Zero Trust is a security strategy that trusts no one without proper authentication procedures and security evaluations of the systems accessing the network or data. It restricts system access permissions until identity verification and security assessment processes are completed, regardless of whether the user is inside or outside the company. With the expansion of remote work due to the COVID-19 pandemic, IT security threats such as APT attacks have intensified. Zero Trust is gaining attention as the next-generation security strategy. It is one of the new security access strategies that can replace network segmentation, which has emerged as an obstacle to remote work in the domestic IT environment.
The specific research and development goals include ▲integrated authentication and access control system for mixed networks ▲security visualization system for mixed networks ▲home network security level diagnosis and improvement system development ▲intelligent AI anomaly detection and response system development. This requires complex foundational technologies such as system access control, antivirus, cloud security, biometric authentication (FIDO), PKI, AI, big data, 3D visualization, and next-generation security monitoring (MDR).
Choi Young-cheol, CEO of SGA Solutions, said, “APT attacks are rapidly increasing due to remote work in the untact era,” adding, “Although zero trust is gaining attention as a security solution, there are currently no standard guidelines or related domestic security products in Korea.”
