As part of the Korean New Deal project, Bucheon City's "A World of Comics in My Hand! Establishing a Smart Docent Environment at the Korea Manhwa Museum" was selected and will receive 100 million KRW in national funding.
The Korea Manhwa Museum recognized the need to transition to a non-face-to-face docent system in the post-COVID-19 environment and developed a smart docent program (a professional guide explaining exhibition works).
Accordingly, visitors will not only view the exhibitions but will also be able to experience a new AR docent using their smartphones.
The AR docent will encompass 100 years of Korean manhwa history, from 'Lee Doyeong-Illustrations,' which marks the beginning of modern manhwa, to published comics, and webtoons at the center of One Source Multi-Use (OSMU: a method that maximizes added value by selling one content in various forms such as movies, games, music, animation, and publishing) technology.
Moreover, rather than simple work explanations, it will be produced as a three-dimensional smart AR docent that crosses between manhwa and reality, highlighting the characteristics of each manhwa genre, from the production process to the unique directing methods of the works.
