[Asia Economy Reporter Minyoung Cha] The contemporary restaurant 'L'Amant Secret' at The Escape Hotel, operated by Shinsegae Chosun Hotel, has been awarded one star in the 'Michelin Guide Seoul 2021.'
The Michelin Guide, a globally prestigious restaurant rating publication, announced the 'Michelin Guide Seoul 2021' on the 19th, selecting L'Amant Secret as a one-star restaurant. This achievement came about two years after its opening in July 2018.
L'Amant Secret offers a romantic and sophisticated atmosphere with eye-catching luxurious table flower decorations, elegant red tones, and a private-feeling interior. The restaurant is located on the top floor of the hotel.
Head Chef Jongwon Son of L'Amant Secret began his career at the three-Michelin-star restaurant 'Benu' in San Francisco and gained experience as a sous chef at the three-Michelin-star restaurant 'Quince' in San Francisco. Since the restaurant's opening, he has been leading as head chef, reinterpreting Korean local ingredients and food culture to pursue a creative Western cuisine unique to the urban city of Seoul.
Beyond being a simple contemporary restaurant, L'Amant Secret has continuously provided delightful tastes by constantly interacting not only with domestic and international restaurants but also with winemakers, incorporating their know-how.
Head Chef Jongwon Son of L'Amant Secret said, "At L'Amant Secret, we aim to capture the wit and sentiment that can only be felt in Seoul and Korea," adding, "We will present sustainable and creative menus through reinterpretation of seasonal ingredients."

Meanwhile, L'Amant Secret, located in the heart of Seoul, continuously expresses the hotel's geographical identity. It presents Korean ingredients in contemporary course menus. Currently, it offers small bites representing Namdaemun, Hanyangdoseong Sun-gil, and Namsan Tower, including roasted chestnuts, mini gimbap, spiral potatoes, and foie gras, each served as small bites along the Namsan Dulle-gil trail.
