Prize Money of 26 Million KRW, AI Semiconductor Competition... Applications Open from the 17th
[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] The Ministry of Science and ICT is hosting the '2020 Artificial Intelligence Semiconductor Design Competition' and will begin accepting applications from the 17th.
According to the Ministry of Science and ICT on the 16th, this competition is a follow-up measure to the 'Artificial Intelligence Semiconductor Industry Development Strategy' jointly announced by related ministries last October. Since July, the Ministry of Science and ICT, Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI), SK Telecom, Telechips, Nextchip, and Semifive have been jointly promoting this initiative.
The theme of the competition is 'Design of AI semiconductors for detecting individuals not wearing masks in CCTV footage to prevent the spread of COVID-19.'
This competition is open to anyone interested in the field of AI semiconductors, including university (graduate) students and prospective entrepreneurs. Participants will be provided with a comprehensive design support environment, including AI learning models for video recognition software, peripheral logic circuits, and test image data.
Applications will be accepted online from November 17 to December 21. The submitted AI semiconductor 'design proposals' will be evaluated to select 20 teams to advance to the finals.
The 20 finalist teams are scheduled to submit their AI semiconductor design results by April next year. A comprehensive evaluation of quantitative performance verification and participant presentations will be conducted to select the top 10 teams. Certificates and a total prize of 26 million KRW will be awarded by the hosting, organizing, and sponsoring institutions.
