Korea Addicted to YouTube, 83% of the Population Watches It

On the 8th, big data platform company IGAWorks announced through Mobile Index that the number of domestic users (MAU) of the YouTube app surpassed 43.19 million in September. This accounts for 83% of South Korea's total population of 51.78 million.
According to Mobile Index analysis, the average monthly usage time per person for the YouTube app was 29.5 hours, about 2.5 times the average monthly usage time per person for KakaoTalk (12 hours).
In particular, the average monthly usage time per teenage male was 48.1 hours, the highest among all age groups. Teenage females averaged 42.8 hours.
The younger the age group, the more days the YouTube app was used. The age group with the most usage days in September was teenagers, with an average of 20 days.
Next were people in their 20s (19.1 days), 30s (16.7 days), 50s (16.3 days), 40s (16.1 days), and 60 and older (15.8 days), in that order.
