[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Kim Chunsu] Gokseong melon, a representative cash crop of Gokseong-gun, Jeollanam-do, is increasing its utilization in various fields, and this time, fermented tea and fermented vinegar have been released.
The Gokseong Melon Rural Convergence Industry Group announced on the 3rd that they developed 'Gokseong Melon Fermented Tea' and 'Gokseong Melon Fermented Vinegar' in collaboration with Jeong Insuk, CEO of the fermentation master at the agricultural corporation Co., Ltd. Chojung.
Agricultural corporation Co., Ltd. Chojung participated in the Gokseong Melon recipe development project promoted by the Gokseong Melon Rural Convergence Industry Group in 2019.
Through this process, based on the guidance of famous chef Kang Leo and previous experience in developing fermented vinegar, they began developing a sweet and sour fermented vinegar with the aroma of melon. Reflecting consumer preferences, the product was fully commercialized this time.
Also, inspired by the fermented vinegar development process, Gokseong Melon Fermented Tea was released together. The fermented tea, developed in powder form, dissolves well in both cold and hot water as well as milk, and retains a sweet melon aroma, making it convenient to consume anytime and anywhere.
The coffee franchise Tom N Toms developed Gokseong melon smoothies and launched them nationwide in June this year, and also developed melon ice cream with local small business owners. Additionally, by distributing Gokseong melon through Coupang Rocket Fresh direct transactions, consumers can conveniently access Gokseong melon.
A representative of the Gokseong Melon Rural Convergence Industry Group said, “We will do our best to enhance the brand value of Gokseong melon through the development of processed products preferred by consumers, create new added value, and increase farmers' income.”
