According to Gwangju Metropolitan City on the 18th, a man in his 70s and a woman in her 60s, a couple residing in Moa Jeil Apartment, Ssangchon-dong, Seo-gu, were confirmed positive for COVID-19 and classified as cases number 240 and 241.
They showed symptoms such as fever and muscle pain the day before and underwent COVID-19 testing at a privately commissioned hospital, which detected a positive result.
Gwangju City received a final confirmation after a second test conducted by the Health and Environment Research Institute also returned positive results for accurate diagnosis.
Gwangju City and health authorities are investigating the initial infection route, movement paths, and contacts through epidemiological investigations.
