Sahmyook University to Award Special Scholarship of 300,000 KRW to All Enrolled Students for First Semester

[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunju Lee] Samyook University will provide a special scholarship of 300,000 KRW to all enrolled students in the first semester to support those facing economic difficulties due to the impact of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
Samyook University announced on the 23rd that this decision was made after gathering opinions from the recent Scholarship Committee and the Student Council.
First, 100,000 KRW will be given as a living expense scholarship in cash to all 5,281 students enrolled in the first semester during August. The remaining 200,000 KRW will be deducted from the tuition fees for the second semester. Students planning to take a leave of absence can receive the deduction in the semester they return.

The budget required for the special scholarship payment is 1.43 billion KRW. The funds were organized by partially adjusting the academic scholarship budget. Donations collected from professors and staff were also included. A total of 23,600,000 KRW was raised from 236 participants, including 138 professors and 98 staff members, who contributed to the COVID-19 scholarship fundraising.
