50-Year-Old Man Arrested for Killing Stranger After Shoulder Collision
[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Min Jun-young] A man in his 50s who stabbed a pedestrian to death with a weapon over a shoulder bump has been arrested by the police.
The Ansan Sangnok Police Station in Gyeonggi announced on the 16th that they have apprehended and are investigating A (58) on suspicion of murder.
A is accused of stabbing B, a man in his 50s, multiple times with a weapon in a park in Sangnok-gu, Ansan City, around 6:20 p.m. on the 12th, resulting in B's death.
At the time, A was intoxicated and had no prior acquaintance with B, but a dispute arose after their shoulders accidentally bumped while passing by, leading to the crime, according to the investigation.
The weapon was confirmed to have been taken from a grandmother who was making kimchi at a nearby senior center.
Police who responded to a witness report arrested A at the scene as a suspect caught in the act.
B was transported to the hospital and received treatment but died around 10 p.m., about four hours later.
During the police investigation, A reportedly stated, "I committed the crime because I was angry after our shoulders bumped."
