iPhone App Access Failure Occurs... Due to Facebook SDK
Major Service Apps Including Naver and Line Shut Down in the Morning
Most Apps Restored Around 8:40 AM
[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] iPhone users experienced inconvenience due to an error preventing access to certain applications (apps), including Naver.
According to industry sources on the 7th, from 7 a.m. that day, apps running on iPhones such as Naver for iOS, Papago, Naver Maps, Naver Blog, Line, Vibe, KakaoPage, Bugs, and Coupang failed to launch. Similar issues occurred not only in South Korea but also overseas.
When access disruptions occurred for Naver and Papago in the morning, Naver announced, "An issue causing Naver-related apps to close upon access on iPhones has occurred. We are urgently investigating the cause and responding, and are working to restore normal service as quickly as possible."
The iOS app crashing issue is believed to be related to an error in Facebook's SDK. The error mainly occurred in mobile apps that use Facebook's development tools. Posts reporting that iPhone and iPad apps were not working were uploaded on iPhone communities and Twitter. IT specialized media Nine to Five Mac explained, "Apps such as Spotify and TikTok were also affected due to conflicts with Facebook SDK."
