KT Collaborates with Doosan Fuel Cell on Fuel Cell Business Using AI
[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] KT announced on the 14th that it signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Doosan Fuel Cell at the Novotel Ambassador Hotel in Dongdaemun, Seoul, to expand the fuel cell business. Fuel cells are high-efficiency power generation systems that produce electricity and heat through the electrochemical reaction of hydrogen and oxygen.
Through the agreement, both companies will jointly develop an ‘Intelligent Unmanned Operation Platform’ for fuel cells by utilizing KT's AI technology and the intelligent integrated energy management platform KT-MEG. The ‘Intelligent Unmanned Operation Platform’ is a platform that automatically produces stable, high-quality power. It includes ▲automatic fuel cell operation ▲real-time operation information collection ▲emergency measures in case of problems ▲predictive maintenance for overall operation, and ▲unmanned control through a video security system for situations such as fire and intrusion within the facility.

Additionally, both companies will promote an energy-saving model development project using fuel cells targeting KT-owned buildings nationwide. The heat generated by installing fuel cells in energy-intensive buildings will be utilized for heating and hot water supply, and the generated electricity will be sold, modeling the energy-saving effect while also inspecting the AI-based platform. Moon Sung-wook, Head of KT’s Corporate New Business Division, said, “We will contribute to the development of the fuel cell unmanned operation platform with KT’s AI-based intelligent energy management technology,” and added, “We will continue to cooperate with Doosan Fuel Cell to revitalize eco-friendly, high-efficiency energy businesses.”
