The county has been dedicated to “protecting the clean natural environment” and “cultivating Angel Island Shinan” by distributing useful microorganisms to residents to restore small streams and tidal flats, and by conducting campaigns to reduce disposable products through the use of personal tumblers.
In particular, since the existing collection centers were made of steel structures, they were vulnerable to corrosion caused by sea breeze and gave an artificial and rigid image. Therefore, they are promoting collection center facilities using natural materials that are unique and harmonize with landscapes blooming flowers all year round.
To this end, with a project cost of about 100 million won, they have started installation by maximizing the use of natural materials such as logs in each eup and myeon.
On the 14th, a pilot agricultural waste joint collection center was installed in Jungchon Village, Aphae-eup (village chief Jeon Yeon-bok).
Considering residents’ reactions and impacts in the future, the project will be fully implemented from next month based on the results.
Shinan-gun has collected 29,745 tons of agricultural waste over the past 15 years, paid 5.8 billion won in collection incentives, and installed 310 collection centers at key points, leading efforts in recycling waste resources and increasing farm income.

County Governor Park Woo-ryang said, “We will continue to promote the installation of original and distinctive collection centers considering the natural environment,” and added, “By providing places to store agricultural waste left unattended in farmland, the landscape will improve, and residents will be able to receive collection incentives, so we expect a win-win effect.”
