Mireuksaji and Wanggung-ri Historic Site Exploration Center to Be Established
Completed in Hanok Style with 21.4 Billion Won... Scheduled for Completion in 2023
[Asia Economy Reporter Jonggil Lee] The Cultural Heritage Administration announced on the 16th that it will build a World Heritage Exploration Hub Center in the area of Donggodor-ri, Geumma-myeon, Iksan, Jeonbuk, designated as an ancient capital (古都, old capital). The location is between Mireuksaji (Historic Site No. 150) and the Wanggung-ri Ruins (Historic Site No. 408). To preserve the ancient capital's landscape, the center will be constructed in the form of a hanok with a total floor area of 5,500㎡. The construction will cost 21.4 billion KRW. The expected completion date is 2023.

Therefore, the Cultural Heritage Administration and Iksan City will produce content using virtual reality, augmented reality, and holograms. A Cultural Heritage Administration official stated, “The establishment of the ancient capital exploration hub is part of the preservation and promotion district project established in the 2016 basic plan,” adding, “It is expected to strengthen the identity of Baekje cultural heritage and contribute to revitalizing tourism.”
