BoA "feels honored to be pioneer of Hallyu"

Top female artist BoA has revealed her appreciation about being nicknamed as the pioneer of the Hallyu phenomenon.

The songstress confessed her thoughts and impressions about being one of the pathfinders of the Korean wave on SBS' “BoA 4354,” her special comeback show aired on July 28.

“I feel such an honor when people say many young K-pop singers are benefited from my effort and success in Japan," BoA said with her bright smile as she reminisced about her past activities in Japan and the United States.

"Now K-pop has become one of the most popular world music, of which people are well aware of and are willing to listen to. I feel satisfied enough if in any way I have contributed to that meaningful process."

The documentary shows BoA developing from a mere dancer and singer to a genuine artist. She has unveiled the first performances and efforts put into her four new tunes in the seventh full-length album, “Only One.” She also teamed up with TVXQ!’s U-Know Yunho to perform to the title song of the same name.

“It was so moving when I first named the show ‘BoA 4354.’ It has been 4354 days since I made my debut on SBS’ ‘Inkigayo’ 12 years ago. After days passed by, I've got the honor of performing on the same stage,” the popstress said when commenting about her special show.

In addition, viewers and her long-awaited fans were also allowed to see the very personal spaces of the veteran dancer, including her room and working studio.

She also provided behind-the-scene clips of herself with SM Entertainment artists such as K-pop boy band Super Junior and actress Lee Yeon-hee.

Known for her early debut at the age of 14, Little Giant BoA has pursued her music career both Korea and Japan since she was 15, has become one of the pioneers of the Korean wave to achieve major success in Japan as a K-pop artist.

the “No. 1” singer is currently getting warmed up to return to the second season of SBS' audition program "KPOP STAR" as a one of the three celebrity judges, alongside JYP Entertainment C.E.O Park Jin-young and YG Entertainment C.E.O Yang Hyun-suk.
